PORTAL

PORTAL

An immersive light + sound experiencePORTAL is an evolving immersive experience created by Judy Berberian and light artist Janet Hansen, bringing together responsive light, sculptural installation, live sound, voice, and performance.

The project began with a simple curiosity: what happens when light and sound are composed together as one experience? Janet’s illuminated sculptural environments and Judy’s work with voice, sound, and performance became the starting point for a collaboration in which neither medium simply accompanies the other. Light shifts with sound. Sound responds to space. The performer moves within the installation, and the environment itself becomes part of the composition.

Using voice, crystal bowls, gong, percussion, spoken word, and electronic amplification alongside programmable LED sculpture, PORTAL moves between meditative and visceral—creating an experience that is meant not simply to be observed, but entered.

PORTAL is designed to evolve in response to each space it inhabits.
